The term "oral surgery" can sound intimidating, but at Pham Dentistry, it simply refers to a range of procedures designed to restore the health, function, and stability of your smile. Dr. Thomas Pham has the training and expertise to perform many surgical procedures right here in our comfortable North Bend office, saving you the hassle of being referred to an outside specialist for every need.

Whether you need a problematic tooth removed or are preparing your jaw for dental implants, we combine advanced technology with a gentle chairside manner to ensure your procedure is safe, precise, and as comfortable as possible.

Surgical Services We Provide

We offer a comprehensive range of oral surgery procedures to meet your family's needs:

  • Complex Tooth Extractions: Removing teeth that are broken below the gum line or have curved roots.
  • Wisdom Teeth Removal: Extracting impacted or crowded third molars to prevent pain and misalignment.
  • Dental Implant Placement: Surgically placing titanium posts into the jawbone to replace missing tooth roots.
  • Bone Grafting: Adding bone material to the jaw to strengthen it for dental implants or to preserve the socket after an extraction.
  • Pre-Prosthetic Surgery: Smoothing or reshaping the jawbone to ensure dentures fit comfortably and securely.

Technology for Precision and Safety

Dr. Pham utilizes state-of-the-art 3D CT Cone Beam scanning technology for surgical planning. This allows us to visualize your nerves, sinus cavities, and bone density in three dimensions before we even begin. This level of detail minimizes risks, shortens surgery time, and leads to a faster, more comfortable recovery for you.

Your Comfort is Our Priority

We understand that surgery can cause anxiety. Our team is dedicated to making you feel at ease. We use effective local anesthetics to ensure you are numb and comfortable throughout the procedure. We also provide clear, detailed post-operative instructions so you know exactly how to care for yourself at home for a smooth recovery.

FAQs

Do I need to be put to sleep for oral surgery?
For most procedures performed in our office, general anesthesia (being put to sleep) is not necessary. We use powerful local anesthetics to completely numb the surgical site, so you feel no pain, only pressure. If you have severe anxiety, please discuss this with Dr. Pham during your consultation so we can plan for your comfort.
What is bone grafting?
Bone grafting is a procedure to build up the bone in your jaw. It is often done immediately after a tooth extraction ("socket preservation") to prevent the bone from shrinking, or before placing a dental implant to ensure there is enough solid bone to support it. The grafting material acts as a scaffold for your body to grow new, healthy bone.
Will I be referred to a specialist?
Dr. Pham is skilled in many oral surgery procedures, allowing us to treat most patients in-house. However, patient safety is our top priority. For extremely complex cases, such as deeply impacted wisdom teeth near a nerve or complex reconstructive jaw surgery, we will refer you to a trusted oral maxillofacial surgeon in the North Bend area to ensure the best possible outcome.
How long does recovery take?
Recovery time varies depending on the procedure. For simple extractions or implant placement, many patients return to normal activities within 1-2 days. For more involved surgeries like wisdom teeth removal, you may need 3-5 days of rest. We will provide you with a specific recovery timeline based on your treatment plan.
