At Pham Dentistry, we love seeing little smiles grow! We believe that positive dental experiences during childhood set the foundation for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Dr. Thomas Pham and our friendly team are dedicated to making every visit fun, comfortable, and educational for your child.

We are proud to be a family dental practice serving North Bend and the Snoqualmie Valley, offering a "dental home" where your children can feel safe and cared for from their very first tooth through their teenage years.

Your Child's First Visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children see a dentist by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth erupting. These early "happy visits" are designed to:

  • Acclimate: Help your child get used to the sights, sounds, and friendly faces at the dental office.
  • Educate: Teach parents about proper gum cleaning, teething, and nutrition.
  • Prevent: Catch early signs of decay before they become problems.

Our Pediatric Services

We offer a full range of services tailored to the unique needs of developing smiles:

  • Comprehensive Exams: Monitoring growth and development of the jaws and teeth.
  • Gentle Cleanings: Removing plaque and tartar to keep gums healthy.
  • Dental Sealants: A thin protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars) to block out cavity-causing bacteria.
  • Fluoride Treatments: Strengthening enamel to resist decay.
  • Fillings: Repairing cavities with tooth-colored materials to restore health.
  • Sports Mouthguards: Custom-fitted protection for active kids and teens.

A Gentle Approach

We know the dentist's office can be a little scary for some children. Our team uses "tell-show-do" techniques to explain procedures in kid-friendly language. We take things slow, follow your child's pace, and always offer plenty of praise (and maybe a prize!) for a job well done.

Start Their Journey Right Give your child the gift of a healthy smile.

FAQs

Why fix baby teeth if they are just going to fall out?
Baby (primary) teeth are incredibly important! They hold the space for permanent teeth to erupt properly, help your child chew nutritious food, and are essential for clear speech development. If a baby tooth is lost too early due to decay, it can cause crowding and alignment issues for adult teeth later on.
What are dental sealants and does my child need them?
Sealants are a quick, painless, and highly effective way to prevent cavities. We paint a thin plastic coating onto the deep grooves of the back molars—where a toothbrush often can't reach. This creates a barrier against food and bacteria. We highly recommend them as soon as the permanent molars come in (usually around age 6 and 12).
When should my child start using toothpaste?
You can start using a tiny smear (the size of a grain of rice) of fluoride toothpaste as soon as the first tooth appears. Once your child is able to spit it out (usually around age 3), you can increase the amount to a pea-sized dollop.
How can I help my child not be afraid of the dentist?
The best way is to start visits young and keep a positive attitude! Avoid using words like "pain," "shot," or "drill." Instead, tell them the dentist is going to count their teeth and make them sparkle. You can also read children's books about visiting the dentist to help them know what to expect.
